Do you fear criticism and/or judgment ?

Have you been watching the Olympics? Even if you haven't keep reading, it may be exactly what you need to hear today...

One of the sports I love watching is gymnastics, and like many, I have admired Simone Biles. If you know part of her story, you need to know that she dropped out of the Tokyo Olympics partway through because she had developed a case of the "twisties," which is when a gymnast's brain no longer connects properly with her body. She felt that it was jeopardizing her physical health if she kept going. She needed to focus on her mental health. As you can imagine, she faced significant criticism AND on the flip side also support.

In later interviews, she said that she just kept bottling up everything, and the pressure pushed it all out - she had to deal with the emotions that she had been pushing aside.

Her story is inspiring. She took care of her mental health, slowly worked her way into the gym, and helped the USA women's gymnastics team win the gold medal! What an amazing display of resilience. Unfortunately, she did face criticism, one of the things they criticized her about - her hair!

Yes, you read right, a woman who has broken records has some gymnastic "moves" named after her, who came back after dealing with her emotional health and was criticized for her hair.

So why do I bring this up Reader? Because so many of my clients (I include myself in this) stop themselves from shining our light because of fear of criticism, being judged, losing relationships, or other things that we think would happen if they shone brightly.

I am here to tell you that the things you fear may happen, and they may happen anyway. Are you willing to hold yourself back to avoid your fears? To miss out on reaching your potential?

If you answered "no," then it is time to choose differently by facing your fears, feeling the fear, and taking action anyway.

What is one thing you would do if you weren't afraid of judgment, criticism, or anything like that?

Go do that and shine brightly!

Lately, these questions have come up not just for me, but for many of my clients as well. It’s common to feel overwhelmed, tired, or like something is constantly nagging at you. Are you in a significant life transition? OR Do you feel paralyzed when making a decision? Reader, I have found that the bigger the transition or decision, the harder it is to choose. For everything you say yes to, you are saying no to many other things. You may be concerned that you will make the "wrong" decision, that you are not fulfilling your purpose with a certain decision, or that you feel confused. Either way, making choices during a major transition can be challenging. I do remember...
